About Brighton i360

Description

Founded in August 2016, the British Airways i360 was designed by the team at Mark Barfield Architects who were also behind the London Eye. As with the capital’s famous landmark, the i360 was conceived to offer visitors a new vantage point, enabling them to experience spectacular views, in this case, of Brighton and Hove and the South Downs. The glass-domed passenger pod glides gently up a steel spire to a height of 138 metres where it offers those onboard a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding scenery. On a clear day, this can be as far as Beachy Head to the east (17 miles) and the Isle of Wight to the west (49 miles). Passengers can enjoy refreshments from the Sky Bar, which serves up local wines and drinks, and on landing they can visit the gift shop and restaurant. Situated along the seafront, the i360 beach building is at the heart of the newly regenerated terraces and arches which it helped to fund.
